Prototypes, assemble

May 10, 2019

Things are moving fast over here at Flit.

After a brief battle to get our new frames cleared through customs over the bank holiday weekend (including a visit to a very big airport cargo loading bay in a very small car) we were really happy to have them in our hands for the first time last Sunday. We have one in Marengo Grey and one in Maya Blue.

Since then we’ve been hard at work testing components and assembling the ebikes.

After 3 years spent designing and testing everything from the frame to the battery, this is the first time that we’ve had all of the different parts come together in their final forms.

We’re really happy with the final results. Not only does the ebike look great, but it feels really nice to ride too. We have spotted a couple of minor adjustments that we want to make for manufacturing, but nothing outside of what is normal during the shift from prototyping to manufacturing. As an added bonus, we look on track to hit our target weight of 14kg. That’s 6-10kg lighter than a typical folding ebike!

So without further ado, here’s the first picture of the finished ebike. What do you think?

We’re really excited to begin the next phase of this project: gearing up for launch. In the background we’re going to be keeping busy with test rides, making final adjustments and preparing for manufacturing.

As always, we’ll be making announcements to our mailing list first. You can also check back here or follow our Facebook,Instagram, or Twitter accounts to stay on top of the latest news like videos of test rides or reveals of new features.
